MUST WE ALWAYS ALLOW OURSELVES TO BE DIRECTED LIKE PUPPETS BY THESE INTERNATIONAL BODIES AND FOREIGN COUNTRIES?
ADMONISHING THE BOLD STEP OF PRESIDENT YOWERI MUSEVENI
Throughout the age and dairy reveals of history, dating the line from the encounterment of the Afrikan with the whites, a lot did occured and still do occurs to the determinants of whether Afrikans can make their own decisions pertaining to global issues without external influence.
The sages of history duel point it out clear to us that, during the pre-colonial era the local people had their own stake in matters that affects themselves and either kingdoms or chiefdoms. Indeed, Afrikans at the time more cognitive and decisive in matters relating their existence. This continued for a while until something cancerous happened along the way.
The what seems to the blackmans decision to adhere to the tricks and ‘fool-playings’ of the whites brought in it wake the cancer of ‘puppetism’ to our people and states. This was how we allowed ourselves to be demonised by these whites thus impudently castigating our culture and vocabularising all sorts of words for it. Our culture was tagged ‘babaric’, ‘inhuman’ and ‘bad’ to the existence of humanity.
There it ushered in it wakes the chronic blind-folds and poisoning our mentality into thinking that our culture is with all that it is said about it, which till today have haunted us.
In what seems to be very disturbing and “abnormal” put it in the context of my African culture Homosexuality_gaism and lesbianism. Our Afrikan culture has nothing of this terribly and dreadful disease.
It is a culture of purity embeded at the heart of sanctity. That is why our chieftaincy institutions eschew a chief from going partisan else the dirty game of politics brings filth to the sanctity of the institution.
On many occasion our nations in Afrika have come under serious economic threat for failure to comply with decisions of these foreign countries or internation bodies of which the World Bank and International Monetary Fund are typifies such class of bodies. The many coup d’etats or putsch which have bedeviled our progress all emanated from these countries and bodies.
After walking through the generational trend of shackles and dark moments in our histories created by these same people, in this 21st Century they are still at our necks demanding we allow them to play the sugar ball whilst we allow the dust to settle into our eyes. In fact, to hell no! I remember vividly David Cameron’s suggestion
of homosexuality to Afrikans for foreign aids. Indeed he could be described as the “shameful-Kwaku-Ananse” of our tales.
The call by His Excellency President Yoweri Museveni, who signed the controversial law allowing those convicted of
homosexuality to be imprisoned for life is in the right direction.
His strong decision as against the one by Amnesty international of condemning the signing into law a bill toughening penalties for gay people and criminalizing those who do not report them. President Museveni stateted strongly saying, “Outsiders cannot dictate to us. This is our country. I advise friends from the west not to make this an issue, because if they make it an issue the more they will lose. If the west does not want to work with us because of homosexuals, then we have enough space to ourselves here.”
This is what every true African leader and African must say. Stating this and pointing it out them means we are not going to be directed like puppets anymore, thus sending that strong signal of what Afrikans are made of.
I honestly think it is a good example for Afrikan leaders to learn from. A right step in the right direction for Afrikans to disentangle themselves from these white dominance and dictatorship tendencies which is directed at their stream of entangling us in the elements of “puppetism”.
